i find that nobleza gaucha is my favorite. it has the greenish amber color when brewed through my coffee maker. a couple sites that i go to are http://www.goyerbamate.com and http://www.ma-tea.com.. hope these sites help those who can’t find any locally.

There are several good yerba mate sources online at very reasonable prices. The shipping and handling charges vary by destination. I have no idea how much it would cost to ship to Australia, but I suggest you place an order and find out. If you are not satisfied with the quality, price and service, try another vendor. Anthony: I hate to break it to you this way, but I took the picture at a market in Buenos Aires. I have seen shelves of “latin american meat markets” in the U.S. that duplicate this one however. I don’t know where you live, but the markets are out there – usually in big cities.
I like Rosamonte Especial too. It’s one of the good ones!

WoW! I love the photo you have in this article of all the Yerba on the shelves! Where is this store? I want to shop there!!! I am stuck with having to always buy all my Yerba online. No local stores anywhere sell this stuff I agree with your article about choosing flavors and brands. You really have to find which one is perfect for you after experimenting. I have been drinking mate for 7 years now and have discovered that Rosamonte Especial is my favorite and is the only Yerba I have been drinking for the past 4 years or so. Just Love It!!! When I use tap water to brew my tea, it turns dark green and leaves a ring around the cup from the sediment. When I use purified water it turns out the amber color that you mentioned in your article. I can tell the difference very easily when tap water was used. This is an easy way to improve the taste, use good water!
